GPS recording and map display are separate functions. A map that has not been downloaded does not mean location recording has stopped. First check whether a recording exists.
Check in this order
- Turn on Location in Android. Check the location permissions requested by goGPS Drive, including the relevant background permission if you record in the background.
- Wait for a location fix under an open sky, then start GPS recording. Select the correct day in Recordings. Offline map display needs a previously downloaded map of that region.
- If recording stops only when the screen turns off, check Android battery and background restrictions for goGPS Drive. Also check free storage and the recording status in the app.
- After the first 30-day trial, free GPS recording is limited to 20 minutes per day. Reaching this limit is different from a connection failure.
How to confirm the result
Record a short walk. New GPS points and a route under the correct date confirm that recording works. If the map is missing, check the region download separately.
If the problem continues
Prepare the phone model, Android and goGPS versions, mode, time of the problem, error message and steps to reproduce it. Do not share passwords, pairing codes or private location recordings.
